Boot from cold in around 12 seconds; Outlook, Teams, Edge, Chrome and the full Office suite open in moments from the NVMe SSD. The 16GB of LPDDR3 keeps macOS-rivalling fluidity on Windows 11 — dozens of browser tabs, a couple of video calls and OneDrive sync all run together without slowdown.

Does this run Windows 11?
Yes — the 10th Gen i5-10210U is Windows 11 compatible and the unit ships with a genuine Windows 11 Pro licence, freshly installed and ready to use.
Is the Touch screen worth it?
Touch becomes a daily-use feature once you have it — scrolling long documents, signing PDFs, navigating Windows 11 Snap Layouts, and inking in OneNote all feel more natural. The 10-point capacitive panel is responsive and the FHD anti-glare panel is bright at 400 nits.
Can the RAM be upgraded?
No — LPDDR3 memory on the X1 Carbon Gen 8 is soldered to the mainboard, so the 16GB is fixed. The good news is 16GB is plenty for everyday business and creative workflows; the maximum spec this model ever shipped with was 16GB.
Is the SSD replaceable?
Yes — the 256GB NVMe SSD sits in a standard M.2 2280 slot and can be swapped or upgraded to 512GB / 1TB / 2TB if you need more storage later.
How long does the battery last?
The 51 Wh battery typically delivers 8–10 hours of mixed productivity work (browser, Office, video calls) at default brightness. Heavy CPU loads or full-brightness 4K video playback will reduce this. Battery health is graded per unit and warrantied for 30 days.
What about shipping and returns?

What does the 12-month warranty cover?

Just having trouble greeting it linked to the internet otherwise it’s okay.
Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
