This is a wired expansion microphone for the Polycom RealPresence Trio conference phone, extending microphone pickup further down a boardroom table. It connects directly to the Trio base unit and requires no separate power supply. Backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.
Conference phone microphones have a finite effective pickup radius, and the most common complaint in larger meeting rooms is that people seated at the far end of the table sound faint or unclear to remote participants. Expansion microphones exist to solve exactly that, and they solve it well — placing an additional array closer to those seats restores natural speech levels for the far end.
The Trio is a capable conference phone on its own in a small to medium room. Beyond roughly the length of a six to eight person table, a single central unit begins to struggle with voices at the extremes. Adding an expansion microphone is a considerably cheaper path to fixing that than replacing the entire conferencing system.
Installation is genuinely simple. The microphone connects to the Trio base over its cable, draws power from the same connection, and requires no configuration — the Trio recognises it and incorporates it into the pickup pattern. For an IT team, this is a five-minute job rather than a project.

Can I use this microphone with a computer?
No. This is an expansion microphone for the Polycom RealPresence Trio conference phone. It requires a Trio base unit and will not work as a standalone USB or analogue microphone.
Does it work with Poly Studio X50 or X70?
No. The Studio X series uses a different expansion microphone. This part (2201-69085-001) is specific to the RealPresence Trio.
Does it need its own power supply?
No. The microphone draws power from the Trio base unit over the connecting cable, so no additional power outlet is required at the microphone position.

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
