The Polycom VVX 301 is a six-line SIP desk phone with Polycom HD Voice, a 208×104 backlit monochrome display, dual 10/100 Ethernet ports, and 802.3af PoE support. Built for everyday business desks where call clarity and reliability matter more than a touchscreen. Backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.
The VVX 301 occupies the practical middle of Polycom's desk phone range. It is the model most often deployed in volume across general office desks, because it delivers Polycom's audio quality without the added complexity of touchscreen models. Voice clarity is the reason these phones remain in service for many years — HD Voice makes a real difference on long calls and in open-plan rooms.
Six line keys give enough capacity for a user who monitors a personal extension plus shared or departmental lines. Beyond that, a receptionist handling constant call volume would be better served by a higher-line model or an expansion module. Setting expectations correctly on line count is the main sizing decision with this phone.
One specification worth noting: the VVX 301 uses 10/100 Ethernet, not Gigabit. For the phone itself this is irrelevant — voice traffic is tiny — but if a PC is daisy-chained through the passthrough port, that PC is limited to 100 Mbps. Where a desktop needs full Gigabit throughput, run a separate cable or choose the Gigabit VVX 311 instead.

Is a power adapter included?
No. The VVX 301 requires either an 802.3af PoE switch port or a Polycom AC power adapter purchased separately. PoE is the more common deployment method.
Does the VVX 301 have a USB port?
No. The VVX 301 has no USB port. If you need USB headset support, look at a higher model in the VVX range such as the VVX 401 or above.
Are the Ethernet ports Gigabit?
No, they are 10/100. This does not affect call quality, but a PC connected through the passthrough port will be limited to 100 Mbps. The VVX 311 is the Gigabit equivalent.
Which phone systems is it compatible with?
The VVX 301 uses open SIP and works with Broadsoft, 3CX, Asterisk, FreePBX, and most standards-based hosted or on-premise platforms. Confirm compatibility with your provider before ordering.
Does it include the handset and cord?
Yes. The handset and curly cord are supplied. The power adapter is the item not included.
Can it be wall mounted?
Yes. The VVX 301 supports wall mounting, though a wall-mount bracket may need to be purchased separately depending on your order.

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
