Does the ThinkPad X260 support Windows 11?
No. The X260 uses a 6th generation Intel Core processor (Skylake), which Microsoft does not officially support for Windows 11. This unit ships with Windows 10 Pro — a fully supported, secure, and feature-rich OS that Microsoft continues to patch until October 2025. For most business and study tasks Windows 10 Pro is entirely capable.
What is the SmartCard reader used for?
The SmartCard slot lets you insert a physical smart card (ISO 7816 standard) for two-factor login, digital certificate authentication, or physical access control — common in government, defence, healthcare, and enterprise IT environments. If you do not use SmartCards, the slot simply sits unused and does not affect normal operation.
Can I upgrade the RAM?
Yes. The X260 has a single SODIMM slot supporting up to 16GB DDR4 at 2133MHz or 2400MHz. Swapping the current 8GB stick for a 16GB DDR4 SODIMM is straightforward and requires only a small Phillips screwdriver. For everyday tasks 8GB is plenty; power users running virtual machines or many browser tabs simultaneously may want to consider upgrading.
Can I connect an external monitor?
Absolutely. The full-size HDMI port supports external displays at up to 4K resolution (via Intel HD Graphics 520). You can run the laptop screen and an external display simultaneously for a dual-monitor setup, or close the lid and use a single large external monitor for desk work.
Is shipping really free?

Does it have a backlit keyboard?
No. The standard X260 keyboard does not include backlighting. If you frequently type in low-light environments this is worth noting. The high-contrast ThinkPad key legends are readable in dim conditions for most users, but those who need backlit keys should consider a different model.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Our 12-month warranty covers hardware defects and component failures under normal use — including the motherboard, screen, keyboard, ports, and SSD. Battery is covered for 30 days. Accidental damage (drops, liquid spills) and cosmetic wear are not included. If something goes wrong, contact us and we will arrange repair or replacement promptly.

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
