Be realistic about what this machine is — and it shines at exactly that. The T450 is a 2015-era 5th Gen laptop built for the basics: web and email, Microsoft Office or LibreOffice, note-taking, online forms and video playback. The 512GB SSD does the heavy lifting on responsiveness, so once you've installed an OS, boots and app launches feel quick despite the older processor.
Because it ships with no operating system, you're free to set it up however you like. Windows 10 runs comfortably for general use, while a lightweight Linux distribution (Ubuntu, Linux Mint or similar) or ChromeOS Flex can make the hardware feel genuinely brisk and extend its useful life. Does this laptop come with Windows installed?
No — the T450 ships with no operating system installed. You're free to install Windows 10, a Linux distribution or ChromeOS Flex. Note that this 5th Gen processor is not eligible for Windows 11.
Can it run Windows 11?
No. The Intel Core i5-5300U (5th Gen) does not meet Microsoft's Windows 11 CPU requirements. Windows 10, Linux or ChromeOS Flex are the recommended options.
What can I realistically use it for?
It's well suited to light everyday tasks — web browsing, email, document editing, study, online forms and video playback — plus Linux projects and use as a dependable second machine. It's not intended for heavy multitasking, editing or gaming.
How does the Power Bridge dual battery work?
The T450 has a small internal battery plus a removable external pack. The internal cell keeps the system running for a short window so you can hot-swap the external battery without shutting down — great for extended time away from a charger.

I was looking for an in-expensive all-in-one solution for my home office to replace my existing desktop and monitor. I found this EliteOne 800 on reboot IT for under $200. Just having trouble greeting it linked to the internet otherwise it’s okay.
Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
