Dell Latitude 7490 — 14" Touchscreen Business Ultrabook
A 14-inch business ultrabook built around a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U vPro, 16GB of DDR4 and a 512GB SSD, with a Full HD touchscreen and Windows 11 Pro. Professionally tested and graded by Reboot IT and backed by a 12-month warranty.
Key benefits
-
Quad-core i7 in an ultrabook chassis. The i7-8650U runs four cores and eight threads with a 4.2GHz boost — the top processor Dell offered in the 7490, and a meaningful step above the i5 versions when several applications are open at once.
-
Intel vPro for managed fleets. Full vPro with Active Management Technology, so IT can patch, inventory and remotely remediate the machine below the operating system. Genuinely useful if you run a managed environment, harmless if you do not.
-
16GB fitted, with a slot still free. Supplied as a single 16GB module across two SODIMM slots, so you can reach 32GB by adding a stick rather than throwing the existing memory away.
-
512GB of storage, not the usual 256GB. Double the capacity most machines at this size carry, which is the difference between managing your disk and forgetting about it.
-
Full HD touchscreen. A 1920 x 1080 WVA touch panel — useful for signing documents, scrolling long pages and annotating, and equally happy used as an ordinary laptop.
-
Every port you need on the chassis. USB-C, USB-A, HDMI and full-size Gigabit Ethernet are all built in, so a wired network or an older projector connects without hunting for an adapter.
Performance in use
This is a machine for a full working day of ordinary business load. Thirty browser tabs, Outlook, Teams, a couple of Office documents and a remote desktop session sit comfortably within 16GB, and the quad-core i7 keeps things responsive when several of them want attention at the same time. At roughly 1.4kg it is genuinely portable, and the chassis is the same tested Latitude design used across corporate fleets.
One detail worth being straight about: the 512GB drive is a SATA M.2 SSD rather than NVMe. It is dramatically faster than any mechanical drive and you will not notice the difference in everyday work, but it is not the sequential throughput of an NVMe drive. If you routinely move very large files, that is the one specification to weigh.
Graphics are Intel UHD 620 integrated, which drives the built-in panel plus external displays over HDMI or USB-C. That covers office work, video calls and multi-monitor productivity comfortably. It is not intended for gaming, 3D rendering or sustained video editing.

Frequently asked questions
Is the storage NVMe?
No — the 512GB drive is a SATA M.2 SSD. It is far quicker than any mechanical drive, but it does not reach NVMe sequential speeds. Worth stating plainly, because an M.2 drive is often assumed to be NVMe.
Can I add more memory?
Yes. The 16GB is supplied as a single module and one SODIMM slot is free, so a second stick takes it to 32GB without discarding the existing memory. Both slots are reachable under the bottom cover.
Does it have a fingerprint reader?
No. This particular configuration shipped without a fingerprint or smartcard reader. It does have TPM 2.0 and Intel vPro.
Is Windows 11 Pro licensed?
Yes. The machine ships with a genuine activated copy of Windows 11 Pro, installed fresh and fully updated before dispatch.
What does vPro actually give me?
Intel vPro adds hardware-level remote management — an IT team can inventory, patch and remotely fix the machine even when the operating system will not start. It needs supporting infrastructure to use, and makes no difference to a standalone home or small-office machine.
How is it shipped?
Free standard AU shipping is included. Orders are packed in protective packaging and dispatched from our Melbourne warehouse with tracking supplied.
What does the warranty cover?
