The Cisco CP-7970G is a full-featured enterprise VoIP phone with a colour 320×234 pixel touch-sensitive LCD display and 8 programmable line/feature keys with LED indicators. Designed for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), it supports both SCCP and SIP protocols and delivers crisp full-duplex wideband audio. This unit ships with a 12-month Reboot IT warranty and is professionally tested and graded at our Melbourne facility.
The CP-7970G was Cisco's flagship desktop phone at its launch and remains a highly capable unit for organisations running Cisco Unified Communications Manager. The touch-sensitive colour display enables quick navigation of corporate directories, call logs, and XML-based services such as weather, company intranet portals, and custom application widgets — all without a separate device.
Audio performance is a clear strength. The full-duplex speakerphone and RJ-9 headset port both benefit from Cisco's wideband audio path, delivering noticeably clearer speech than older narrowband phones — a meaningful improvement in open-plan or noisy environments. The integrated 2-port 10/100 Ethernet switch passes through your desktop PC connection, keeping cabling tidy at a single wall port.
Deployment is straightforward on any IEEE 802.3af PoE-capable switch. The phone auto-provisions via TFTP when connected to a CUCM network. For non-PoE deployments, the optional Cisco CP-PWR-CUBE-4 power adapter (sold separately) provides an alternative power path — note that no adapter is included with this unit.

Does a power adapter come included?
No. The Cisco CP-7970G is powered via IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE). A PoE-capable network switch is required. If your switch does not support PoE, you will need the Cisco CP-PWR-CUBE-4 power adapter, sold separately. No adapter is included with this unit.
Which call manager software does this phone support?
The CP-7970G is designed for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) using the SCCP (Skinny) protocol. It also supports SIP for use with compatible third-party call managers. It is not compatible with consumer VoIP apps or standard POTS lines.
Can I use this phone with a cloud phone system (Teams, Zoom, 3CX)?
Compatibility varies. CUCM-based SCCP deployments are the primary use case. Some SIP-based cloud systems (such as 3CX) may support the CP-7970G via SIP firmware. Microsoft Teams and Zoom Phone do not natively support this hardware — a certified Teams or Zoom device would be needed for those platforms.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Reboot IT's 12-month warranty covers hardware defects and functional failures identified after purchase. Physical damage caused after delivery is excluded. Contact our Melbourne support team for warranty claims.

Is this phone compatible with any handset or headset?
The CP-7970G uses a standard Cisco handset and includes an RJ-9 headset port compatible with most wired telephone headsets (e.g. Plantronics, Jabra RJ-9 headsets). A Cisco-compatible handset is included with the phone.

Just having trouble greeting it linked to the internet otherwise it’s okay.
Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
