The E-series is Lenovo's value ThinkPad, and this configuration is where it makes the most sense. The i5-8250U delivers four cores and eight threads, which is the practical dividing line between a laptop that keeps up and one that does not. Video calls with screen sharing, a large spreadsheet open in the background, Outlook syncing and twenty tabs alive at once is an ordinary Tuesday for this machine.
The 16GB of RAM is what lifts it above a typical used-laptop purchase. Most corporate fleet machines were specified at 8GB, which is workable but tight once Teams and a modern browser are both resident. How does the E480 differ from the T480?
The E-series is the value line. You get the same 8th Gen quad-core performance, the same ThinkPad keyboard feel and the same security features, in a chassis built to a sharper price. The T-series adds a lighter, more premium body and the dual-battery Power Bridge.
Is 16GB of RAM enough?
For business use, comfortably. 16GB is double the typical corporate build and handles Teams, Office, browsers and background sync all at once without paging to disk.
Is 256GB enough storage?
For most users, yes. After Windows 11 and the usual applications you will have roughly 180–200GB free. The M.2 NVMe drive can be upgraded later if you need more space.
Can I connect an external monitor?
Yes. HDMI drives an external display directly, and the USB-C port supports a dock for a full desk setup over one cable.
Does it come with Windows activated?
