The Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 1 runs a 10th Gen quad-core Intel Core i5-10210U with 8GB DDR4 RAM, a 256GB NVMe SSD and a 14-inch Full HD IPS display, running Windows 11 Pro. Please note: the built-in RJ-45 Ethernet (LAN) port on this unit is faulty and does not work — Wi-Fi and all other functions are unaffected, and the laptop is priced accordingly. Set the LAN port aside for a moment and this is a capable machine. The i5-10210U is a Comet Lake quad-core with eight threads and a 4.2GHz boost, a full two generations newer than the 8th Gen chips that dominate the used market. Office applications, video conferencing, browser-heavy work and general business software all run comfortably under Windows 11 Pro, and the NVMe SSD keeps the whole system feeling immediate.
The 8GB of RAM is the practical constraint. It is enough for a focused workload — a browser, Office and a video call — but it will not stretch to heavy multitasking the way a 16GB machine does. For a single-user, task-focused role this is a sensible configuration; for someone who lives with thirty tabs open, look at a 16GB unit instead.
On the fault itself: the RJ-45 Ethernet port is non-functional and will not pass traffic. Wireless networking, USB, display output, audio, the keyboard, trackpad, camera and storage are all unaffected. In practice most users never plug in a cable, and where wired networking is required a USB-A or USB-C Gigabit Ethernet adapter is a cheap and completely reliable substitute. We have disclosed the fault here, in the product title, and it is reflected in the price — the 12-month warranty covers every other component as normal.

What exactly is wrong with the LAN port?
The built-in RJ-45 Ethernet port does not pass network traffic. It is a hardware fault on this individual unit. Everything else — Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, display output, audio, keyboard, trackpad, camera and storage — works normally.
Can I still use wired networking?
Yes. A USB-A or USB-C Gigabit Ethernet adapter plugs straight in and works immediately under Windows and Linux. They are inexpensive and completely reliable.
Is the fault covered by the warranty?
No — the LAN fault is disclosed up front and excluded, and the price reflects it. The 12-month warranty covers every other hardware component as normal.
Does Wi-Fi work properly?
Yes. Wireless networking and Bluetooth are fully functional and tested. Only the wired Ethernet port is affected.
Is 8GB of RAM enough?
