The SSD is the real upgrade over older budget laptops — boot times are short, tabs load reasonably fast, and the system doesn't slow to a crawl opening a PDF. What operating system comes with this laptop?
No operating system is pre-installed. You can install Windows 10, Linux (Ubuntu, Mint, etc.), or ChromeOS Flex — all work well on this hardware. The Pentium N3700 does not meet Windows 11 minimum requirements, so Windows 10 or a Linux distribution is recommended.
Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?
The RAM is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. The storage is an eMMC module in some configurations or an M.2 SSD in others — upgradeability depends on the specific unit. We recommend treating the 4 GB RAM as fixed.
Is the Pentium N3700 fast enough for everyday use?
Yes, for light tasks. It handles browsing, email, streaming video, and basic documents without major issues. Keep browser tabs to a manageable number and avoid running multiple heavy applications at once and it performs reliably.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
The warranty covers hardware defects and component failures under normal use. Grade A units include battery warranty for 12 months (70%+ health at dispatch); Grade B units include a 30-day battery warranty. Accidental damage is not covered.
Does it have an Ethernet port?
No — the IdeaPad 100S relies on WiFi for network connectivity. It does not have a built-in RJ-45 Ethernet port. A USB-to-Ethernet adapter will work if a wired connection is needed.
How is shipping handled?

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
