A dual-processor 2U rack server with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v2 CPUs, 32GB of DDR3 memory, 25 small form factor drive bays and HP Smart Array P420i RAID — supplied without hard drives so you can fit exactly the storage you need. Backed by a 12-month warranty.

Performance in use

The DL380p Gen8 is one of HP's most widely deployed 2U servers, and the 25-bay small form factor build is the storage-dense version of it. With two eight-core Xeon E5-2650 v2 processors, it has the headroom to run a stack of virtual machines, a database or a busy file server for a small business or a serious home lab.

Twenty-five 2.5-inch bays on the Smart Array P420i let you build a large SAS array, a fast SSD tier, or a mix of boot, data and cache volumes in one chassis. Because it ships without drives, you only pay for the storage you want — and there is no previous owner data on the unit.

Two 10GbE ports make it well suited to iSCSI, NFS or VM migration traffic, while two 1GbE ports handle management and user access. HP iLO 4 with its dedicated management port lets you check hardware health and reach the console without standing at the rack.

How much memory can I add?

There are 24 DIMM slots. With both processors installed, the server supports up to 384GB of RDIMM or 768GB of LRDIMM memory.

Is there an optical drive?

No. The 25-bay SFF version of the DL380p Gen8 has no optical drive bay.

Is an operating system installed?

No. The server is supplied without an operating system, ready for Windows Server, Linux or a hypervisor.
