The HP LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge (C7978A) is the standard HP cleaning cartridge for all LTO Ultrium tape drives from LTO-1 through LTO-9. Essential for maintaining read/write head performance and extending drive life in tape backup environments. New and unused. Backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.

Performance in Use

LTO tape drives require periodic head cleaning to maintain read/write accuracy. The C7978A cleaning cartridge is the HP-specified solution for this maintenance task — simply load the cartridge into any compatible LTO drive and the drive performs the cleaning cycle automatically. Most modern tape drives will alert you (via their management interface or backup software) when a cleaning cycle is due.

Regular cleaning removes microscopic oxide particles deposited on the read/write head during normal tape operations. Skipping cleaning leads to gradually increasing read errors, media errors, and ultimately drive failure — a costly outcome in a backup environment. A single C7978A cartridge provides approximately 50 cleaning cycles, making it a long-lasting maintenance investment.

The universal design means this single cartridge covers your entire LTO drive estate — from legacy LTO-1 drives still in archive service through to modern LTO-9 drives running current production backups. All-in-one Solution for Home Office

Fair tech for price

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.

Works excellently as advertised.

The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
