HP EliteBook 840 G8 — 14" Business Ultrabook
A premium 14-inch business ultrabook built around the Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor with 16GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and built-in 4G LTE mobile broadband, running Windows 11 Pro. Every unit is professionally tested and graded in our Melbourne workshop and backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Connect anywhere with 4G LTE — an integrated WWAN modem means you can work from a client site, a train or a café without hunting for Wi-Fi or tethering to a phone. Insert a data SIM and you are online.
-
Intel Core i7-1185G7 performance — four cores and eight threads with turbo speeds up to 4.8GHz handle large spreadsheets, dozens of browser tabs and video calls at the same time without stalling.
-
16GB of memory — enough headroom to keep Teams, Outlook, Excel and a browser session open together, which is where most 8GB machines start swapping to disk and slowing down.
-
256GB solid-state storage — boots to the Windows desktop in seconds and opens applications near-instantly, with no moving parts to fail.
-
Genuine Windows 11 Pro — includes BitLocker drive encryption, Remote Desktop and domain join, so the machine drops straight into a managed business environment.
-
Light enough to carry daily — the 840 G8 chassis is a slim, magnesium-reinforced 14-inch design intended for staff who travel between desks and sites rather than sitting in one place.
Performance In Use
The EliteBook 840 G8 sits in HP's mainstream corporate range, which is the segment built for people who use a laptop for a full working day. In day-to-day office work — a large Excel model open alongside Outlook, a Teams call running and fifteen or twenty browser tabs — the i7-1185G7 and 16GB of memory keep everything responsive. This is the configuration most businesses specify for staff who need a machine to last the whole lease, rather than the entry-level build that feels slow after a year.
For mobile and field work, the built-in 4G LTE is the feature that changes how the machine gets used. Instead of relying on venue Wi-Fi or draining a phone battery through a hotspot, the laptop holds its own connection. Sales staff, auditors, health and community workers and anyone filing reports between appointments get a connection that simply stays up. A data SIM from any Australian carrier is all that is required.
For creative and technical tasks, the integrated Iris Xe graphics in this generation of Intel silicon handle photo editing, multi-monitor desktops and 1080p video playback and conferencing comfortably. It is not a gaming or 3D-rendering machine and we would not sell it as one — but for CAD viewing, light video editing and driving two external displays from a dock, it is well within its comfort zone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this laptop come with Windows already installed?
Yes. It ships with a genuine, activated copy of Windows 11 Pro. Switch it on, complete the standard Windows setup and it is ready to use.
What is included in the box?
The laptop, a compatible power adapter and cable, and a tax invoice. Original retail packaging and printed manuals are not included.
Do I need a SIM card to use the 4G LTE?
Yes. The modem is built in, but you supply your own data SIM from an Australian carrier. A SIM is not included. The laptop works perfectly on Wi-Fi alone if you do not need mobile broadband.
How long will the battery last?
Battery health is tested and graded before dispatch — 70% or better of original capacity on Grade A, and between 50% and 70% on Grade B. Real-world runtime depends on how you use the machine. Batteries are consumables and carry a 30-day warranty.
Can the memory or storage be upgraded later?
The NVMe solid-state drive can be replaced or upgraded. Memory on this chassis is soldered to the mainboard and cannot be changed after purchase, so choose the configuration you need up front.
What happens if something goes wrong?
The laptop is covered by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty. Contact us and we will diagnose the fault and repair or replace the machine. We are a Melbourne business and warranty work is handled here, not sent offshore.
How quickly does it ship?
Orders placed on a business day are typically dispatched the same or next business day from our Melbourne warehouse, with free standard shipping across Australia.
Warranty & Why Buy From Reboot IT
This laptop is covered by a 12-month warranty from Reboot IT. If a hardware fault appears within that period, we will repair or replace the machine — our technicians work from our own Melbourne premises, so you are dealing directly with the people who tested your unit rather than a call centre.
Reboot IT has been refurbishing business IT equipment since 2001. Every machine that leaves us has been inspected, security-wiped to industry standard, functionally tested, cleaned and graded by hand. We publish honest cosmetic grades and real battery health figures because we would rather set the right expectation than process a return.
Buying refurbished also keeps serviceable enterprise hardware in use and out of landfill — a straightforward environmental win alongside the cost saving. Free standard shipping applies across Australia, and every order includes a tax invoice.
