The HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor desktop packs an Intel Core i5-3470 3rd Gen quad-core processor with 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 500GB HDD into a compact chassis. This unit includes a DVD-RW optical drive and ships with no OS installed — ready for your preferred operating system. A 12-month Reboot IT warranty is included.

Key Benefits

• Intel Core i5-3470 3rd Gen: Quad-core Ivy Bridge processor running at 3.2–3.6 GHz provides sufficient performance for office productivity, web browsing, point-of-sale systems, and basic business applications.
• 4GB DDR3 RAM: Adequate working memory for lightweight operating systems and business productivity applications. The unit supports up to 16GB DDR3 across its DIMM slots for future upgrade.
• 500GB HDD Storage: Mechanical hard drive provides plenty of capacity for documents, software, and data storage in everyday office and business use.
• DVD-RW Optical Drive: Built-in DVD read/write drive supports optical media playback, data backup, and OS installation from disc — useful for users deploying from physical media.
• No OS Included: Ships without an operating system, making it flexible for buyers who want to install their own Windows licence, Linux distribution, or custom business software image.
• Small Form Factor Chassis: Compact SFF design takes up minimal desk or shelf space, making it suitable for reception desks, compact workstations, point-of-sale, and space-constrained environments.

Performance in Use

The Compaq Elite 8300 SFF is a practical choice for buyers looking for a reliable, budget-friendly desktop for light productivity or specialist use cases. The i5-3470 quad-core processor handles web browsing, Microsoft 365, and standard business software without difficulty, while the 500GB HDD provides ample storage for documents and applications. The DVD-RW drive is a genuine advantage for teams that still work with physical media or need to install operating systems and software from disc.

With no OS pre-installed, this machine is ideal for IT departments deploying a custom image, businesses with volume licence agreements for Windows, or buyers installing Linux for specific workloads. The Q77 chipset platform is mature and well-supported across major operating systems including Windows 10, Windows 11 (via compatibility bypass), Ubuntu, Debian, and similar distributions.

The SFF form factor occupies roughly the same space as a standard office telephone, sitting comfortably on or beside a desk without dominating the workspace. This makes the 8300 SFF a solid option for reception counters, point-of-sale configurations, and shared workstations where physical footprint matters.
