Performance in use

Ultra short throw is the whole point of this projector. A conventional projector needs two to three metres of clear space and usually a ceiling mount, which means cabling through the ceiling and a presenter who keeps walking into the beam. The EB-475W sits on a short wall arm just above the screen and throws a large image from a few centimetres away. Installation is simpler, the hardware is within reach for maintenance, and the person presenting can stand at the board and write on it without a shadow across their work.

At 2,600 lumens with 3LCD technology, it holds up in a room with normal lighting. 3LCD delivers the same brightness for colour as it does for white, so charts, coloured text and photographs stay readable rather than washing out — which matters more in a teaching or meeting context than raw contrast figures do. Native WXGA at 1280 x 800 is a straight match for widescreen laptop output, so slides fill the screen without black bars or scaling artefacts.

This makes it a practical fit for classrooms, training rooms, meeting rooms and community spaces — anywhere a fixed, low-maintenance display is wanted without the cost of a large flat panel. It is a wired projector: connect a laptop or media player over HDMI or VGA, or put it on the wired network for centralised control. Wireless is possible but needs Epson's optional wireless LAN unit, which is not included.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours are on the lamp?

1,031 hours in normal mode plus 31 hours in eco mode. Typical lamp life for this model is around 3,000 hours, so roughly two thirds remains. Replacement lamps are still available if you need one later.

Does it have Wi-Fi?

Not on its own. The EB-475W is wired — HDMI, VGA, USB and wired LAN. Wireless requires Epson's optional wireless LAN unit, which is not included with this projector.

Can I write on the screen with an interactive pen?

No. Pen interactivity is the feature that distinguishes the EB-475Wi from this model. If interactive whiteboard functionality is what you need, look for the "i" version.

How close to the wall does it sit?

Ultra short throw means centimetres rather than metres — it produces a large image from immediately in front of the screen. The exact distance depends on your target image size; Epson publishes a throw distance chart for this model.

Is a wall mount included?

Unless the listing photographs show one, assume the projector only. Ultra short throw projectors are normally installed on a short wall arm, so factor a mount into your planning if you do not already have one.

Will it work in a lit room?

Yes, within reason. 2,600 lumens is comfortable for a classroom or meeting room with normal lighting. Direct sunlight on the screen will wash out any projector at this brightness.

Warranty and support

This projector is covered by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty. If a hardware fault develops within the warranty period, contact us and we will resolve it — repair, replacement or refund depending on the circumstances. Lamps are a consumable and wear with use, as they do in any projector.
