Performance in use

The Precision 7560 is Dell's 15.6" mobile workstation, and it is built to a different brief from a business laptop. The Core i7-11850H is an eight-core, sixteen-thread 45W processor with vPro management, paired here with the RTX A2000 — a professional card with 4GB of GDDR6 and driver certification for the CAD, BIM and visualisation software that requires it.

The 48GB of memory in this particular unit is what sets it apart. Workstation workloads are far more often memory-bound than compute-bound: a large assembly in SolidWorks, a point cloud, a 4K timeline with effects, or half a dozen virtual machines will exhaust 32GB long before they exhaust eight cores. This configuration gives you 50% more headroom before that happens.

The display deserves its own mention. At 500 nits with full DCI-P3 coverage it is usable in bright rooms and accurate enough for colour work — a specification normally reserved for the top of a consumer range, here in a chassis with ECC-capable memory support, a 95Wh battery and full-size ports. The 256GB drive is the one modest component, and it is replaceable.

What we check before it is listed

Every machine through our Melbourne workshop is powered up and tested component by component, with the results recorded against its serial number.

• Hardware scan — processor, memory, storage, display panel, graphics and wireless identified and verified per serial number. On this unit the memory and drive were confirmed against the machine, not the original build sheet.
• Discrete graphics — the RTX A2000 is detected and tested under load.
• Storage health — SMART data read from the drive; drives showing early warning signs are replaced rather than listed.
• Battery condition — measured against design capacity and recorded as a percentage.
• Secure data erasure — every drive wiped to recognised data destruction standards before reimaging.
• Functional testing — keyboard, trackpad, ports, microphone, speakers, wireless and display each checked by hand. The absence of a webcam on this unit is recorded, not overlooked.

Frequently asked questions

Does it come with Windows?

No. The drive is wiped, no operating system is installed and no Windows licence is included. You supply and install your own OS.

Does it have a webcam?

No. This unit has no webcam fitted. An external USB camera is required for video calls.

Is 48GB unusual for this model?

Yes. Most Precision 7560s were specified with 16GB or 32GB. This unit was verified at 48GB during hardware scanning, which is why it is listed separately from our 32GB examples.

Can I add more memory?

Yes. The 7560 has four SODIMM slots and supports up to 128GB of DDR4.

How does the RTX A2000 compare to a GeForce card?

The A2000 is a professional card with certified drivers for CAD, BIM and DCC applications. For those programs the certification matters more than raw frame rate, and a GeForce card of similar speed will not be supported by the vendor.

Is the screen touch?

No. It is a 15.6" FHD anti-glare non-touch panel, rated at 500 nits with 100% DCI-P3 coverage.

Can I fit a larger SSD?

Yes. The drive is replaceable and the chassis has additional M.2 capacity, so storage is straightforward to expand.

What is included in the box?

The laptop, a compatible power adapter and a tax invoice. Original packaging, manuals and accessories are not included unless specifically noted.

Can schools, businesses and government buy on account?
