Why does it run Windows 10 Pro and not Windows 11?
The Intel Core i5-6300U (6th Gen) does not meet Microsoft's official hardware requirements for Windows 11 (which mandates 8th Gen Intel or newer, plus TPM 2.0 in a specific configuration). Windows 10 Pro is the correct and supported OS for this machine. Microsoft continues to maintain Windows 10 Pro, and many businesses specifically choose it for legacy software compatibility and enterprise management stability.
How do I connect an external monitor? There's no HDMI port.
The Latitude 7280 has a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort output. A USB-C to DisplayPort cable or a USB-C to HDMI adapter (widely available for around $15–30) will connect any modern external display. The USB-C port also supports Power Delivery, so you can charge and display over a single cable with a compatible dock.
Can the RAM be upgraded beyond 16GB?
The Latitude 7280 supports up to 16GB DDR4 across two SODIMM slots, so this unit is already at the maximum RAM capacity for this model. No upgrade is possible beyond 16GB — but 16GB is genuinely sufficient for almost all business and student workloads.
Is the SSD upgradeable?
Yes — the M.2 slot accepts standard M.2 SATA drives. If you need more storage in the future, the 256GB SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 SATA drive (note: the 7280 supports SATA, not NVMe, on this slot).
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
The warranty covers hardware faults — screen defects, port failures, keyboard issues, and component failure. Battery capacity is warranted separately for 30 days from delivery. Normal wear and accidental damage are not covered.
Is this laptop suitable for video calls?
Yes. The built-in HD webcam and microphone handle Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet well in normal office lighting. For regular heavy video conferencing, you may find an external USB webcam worthwhile, but the built-in camera is entirely functional for business use.

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
