Performance in Use

The UniFi USG is the routing and firewall layer of the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem. When managed through the UniFi Network Controller (free software, runs on a server or UniFi Cloud Key), it provides a single-pane-of-glass view of the entire network — routing policies, firewall rules, VPN tunnels, client visibility, and DPI statistics all available from one interface without separate management portals for each device.

The USG handles stateful firewall inspection, NAT, DHCP, DNS forwarding, and VPN in hardware. Its 3 Gigabit ports can be configured as WAN + LAN, WAN + LAN + DMZ, or load-balancing dual-WAN — providing flexibility for network architects designing secure multi-zone environments. DPI provides real-time application-level visibility into traffic patterns across all connected clients.

Does it need a UniFi controller to function?

The USG can be used in standalone mode with basic routing, but full features including DPI, VPN, and advanced firewall rules require the UniFi Network Controller. The controller is free software — run it on a PC, Raspberry Pi, or purchase a UniFi Cloud Key or UDM.

Is it factory reset?

Yes. All units are factory reset before dispatch — ready to adopt into your UniFi controller with no prior configuration to clear.

Does it include a power adapter?

Yes — the original power adapter is included.

Can I run dual WAN for failover?

All-in-one Solution for Home Office

Fair tech for price

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.

Works excellently as advertised.

The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
