Performance in use

This is the workhorse access switch of the ProCurve line, and it is the one we see most often in small and mid-size sites. Twenty-four gigabit ports covers a floor of desks, a classroom or a small office outright, and the four SFP slots mean the uplink back to the core can be fibre without extra hardware in between. It is fanless, so noise never rules out where you can put it.

Being fully managed rather than unmanaged is what makes it worth the difference. You can separate voice, data and guest traffic onto their own VLANs, prioritise voice with QoS so calls stay clean under load, bond two ports together with LACP for a fatter uplink, and mirror a port when you need to see what is actually on the wire. Those are the features that turn a box of ports into a network you can troubleshoot.

Note that this is the non-PoE model. If you intend to power IP phones, wireless access points or cameras from the switch itself, you need the 2530-24G-PoE+ instead — this unit will pass data to those devices but will not power them. Layer 3 routing is also outside its scope; the 2530 is a Layer 2 access switch and expects a router or core switch above it.

Both grades are functionally identical. Grading reflects cosmetic condition only — every unit is tested to the same standard before it leaves our Melbourne workshop.

Frequently asked questions

Does this switch supply PoE?

No. The J9776A is the non-PoE model. For powered devices you need the 2530-24G-PoE+ (J9773A) instead.

Are SFP modules included?

No. The four SFP slots are supplied empty. You will need compatible SFP transceivers for any fibre uplinks.

Are rack ears or a power cord included?

The unit is supplied as the switch only unless the title states otherwise. Please contact us before ordering if you need mounting hardware confirmed.

Is it Layer 2 or Layer 3?

Layer 2. It handles VLANs, QoS and link aggregation, but it does not route between subnets.

Can I manage it through a web browser?

Yes. It offers a web GUI, a full CLI over console or SSH, and SNMP for monitoring.

Does it arrive with an existing configuration?

No. Every unit is factory reset before listing, so it starts from defaults.

What warranty is included?

Every unit carries a 12-month warranty from Reboot IT, return to base, covering hardware faults. If it fails within the warranty period we repair or replace it.
