Reading and browsing. The Retina display is the star here. At 264 pixels per inch, eBook text, news articles and PDFs look clean and are easy on the eyes, and the 9.7" screen gives web pages enough room to read without constant zooming. On your home Wi-Fi it is a comfortable couch or bedside companion.
Video, photos and email. The A5X chip and its quad-core graphics were designed to push the Retina screen, so watching video, flicking through photo albums and checking email all work well. It is a handy screen for the kitchen bench, a spare tablet for guests or a simple device for a child’s reading. The 5MP iSight camera on the back is useful for snapping a receipt, a whiteboard or a quick family photo.
An honest note on apps. This is a 2012 tablet and it runs an older version of iOS. Many current App Store apps need a newer iOS, so some apps you use on a newer phone or tablet may not install. It suits reading, web browsing, email, video and simple apps rather than the latest games or productivity software. If you need current apps, a newer iPad is the better choice.

No. Apple states the 4G LTE on this model only works on certain US and Canadian networks, so in Australia its cellular connection is 3G (UMTS/HSPA). Australian carriers have switched off their 3G networks, so please do not rely on mobile data – treat it as a Wi-Fi tablet for everyday use at home, work or school.
Will my favourite apps work on it?
