A two-handset DECT system covers the requirement of most homes and small offices: a phone in the main living or working area and a second in a bedroom, upstairs room, or back office. Digital DECT transmission delivers clearly better call audio and range than the analogue cordless phones it replaced, and the encoding means conversations are not casually interceptable.
The answering machine is the feature that distinguishes a system like this from a basic cordless handset. Messages record to the base unit and play back from either handset, so there is no need to walk to the base to check them. For a small business using a landline, that is the difference between catching enquiries and missing them.
NBN compatibility is worth confirming against your own setup. The DECT 1735+1 connects to the phone port on an NBN modem, router, or ATA adapter exactly as it would to a traditional wall socket. What it cannot do is work during a power failure — like all cordless systems, the base requires mains power, and NBN voice services themselves generally stop during an outage.

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
