The Ubiquiti UCK-G2 is a self-hosted UniFi Network and Protect controller in a compact, PoE-powered device — backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty. Run your entire UniFi network and camera system locally without a cloud subscription, with 32GB eMMC storage and a built-in 1.3-inch status display.
For small to medium UniFi deployments, the UCK-G2 is the ideal controller — purpose-built hardware running both UniFi Network and UniFi Protect locally, without the complexity of setting up a VM or NAS. Simply power it via PoE, let it boot, and log in through your browser. All UniFi devices on the network are adopted and managed from the UCK-G2's locally hosted controller interface.
The 32GB eMMC storage holds network configuration and Protect camera recordings. For camera-heavy deployments, Protect can be configured to write footage to an attached USB drive or network storage, extending capacity beyond the built-in storage. The 1.3-inch front LCD shows the device's IP address and status — handy during setup or troubleshooting without needing a laptop.
For businesses with data privacy requirements — particularly healthcare, legal, or financial environments — the UCK-G2's fully local operation means network topology and camera footage never leave the building. The controller remains accessible on the local network even during internet outages.

Do I need a cloud account to use the UCK-G2?
No. The UCK-G2 operates entirely locally. A Ubiquiti account is optional (for remote access via cloud relay), but the controller functions fully on your local network without any cloud dependency.
What applications does the UCK-G2 run?
The UCK-G2 runs UniFi Network (for managing UniFi routers, switches, and access points) and UniFi Protect (for managing UniFi cameras). Both run simultaneously on the device.
Can I expand the storage beyond 32GB?
Yes. The USB 3.0 port allows connecting an external USB drive for additional Protect camera recording storage. Network-attached storage is also supported in newer Protect firmware versions.
What is the difference between the UCK-G2 and UCK-G2-PLUS?
The UCK-G2-PLUS includes a built-in 1TB hard drive, internal battery for graceful shutdown, and higher camera capacity. The UCK-G2 (this device) suits smaller Protect deployments using external USB storage.

Just having trouble greeting it linked to the internet otherwise it’s okay.
Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
