The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 sits between a phone and a full-size tablet. It is small enough to carry in a bag or a large coat pocket, yet the 8-inch 4:3 screen shows a full web page or an ebook page without constant zooming. The 4:3 shape gives more vertical room than a widescreen tablet, which makes it comfortable for reading, email and documents.
The Snapdragon 410 and 2GB RAM suit everyday tasks: web browsing, email, streaming video, video calls, ebooks and light productivity apps. It is a dependable second screen or a simple first tablet, not a gaming device. Plan to keep larger media libraries on a microSD card, since part of the 16GB internal storage is taken by the operating system.
The 4G LTE radio is what sets this model apart from the Wi-Fi-only Tab A 8.0. With a data SIM it works as a mobile internet device for travel, field work or a car navigator, and GPS works with mapping apps without a phone tethered to it.

What's included?

Will it work with my mobile network?
The SM-T355Y is the 4G LTE model of the Tab A 8.0 sold in Australia. We don't promise that every unit is network-unlocked, so if you plan to use a particular carrier, contact us before ordering and we'll check the unit we send you.
Can I expand the storage?
Yes. The tablet has a microSD card slot, which is the easiest way to add room for photos, music, maps and offline video.
Which Android version does it run?
The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 launched in 2015 with Android 5.0 Lollipop. As an older device it no longer receives major Android updates, and some newer apps may not support it, but it runs browsing, email, streaming and most everyday apps.
Does it support the S Pen?
No. S Pen support is on the SM-P355 model. The SM-T355Y works with your finger or a basic capacitive stylus.
