The Poly EX-MIC is an expansion microphone array for Poly Studio X50 and X70 video conferencing systems, extending microphone coverage across larger meeting rooms. It connects to the Studio X base unit and requires no separate power supply. Backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.
Video bars such as the Studio X50 and X70 combine camera, speaker, and microphone array into a single unit mounted at the front of the room. That design works very well in small and medium spaces, but in a longer room the microphones are inevitably far from the people seated at the back — and those participants are the ones remote attendees struggle to hear.
The EX-MIC addresses this directly by placing an additional array on the table, closer to the seats the video bar cannot cover well. Because it is a genuine Poly accessory, its input is processed within the Studio X audio pipeline — the same noise suppression and echo cancellation apply, so it behaves as an extension of the system rather than a bolted-on second microphone.
For an organisation that has already invested in Studio X hardware, this is the sensible next step when a room proves larger than the video bar alone can handle. Installation takes minutes, requires no configuration, and does not disturb the existing room setup or call platform.

Will this work with a Polycom RealPresence Trio?
No. The EX-MIC (2201-69631-001) is designed for Poly Studio X50 and X70 video bars. The RealPresence Trio uses a different expansion microphone.
Can I use it as a USB microphone on a computer?
No. This is a proprietary expansion accessory that requires a Poly Studio X host unit. It will not function as a standalone or USB microphone.
Does it need a separate power supply?
No. Power is drawn from the Studio X base unit over the connecting cable, so no power outlet is required at the table position.
Is the connecting cable included?

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
