The Core i7-1255U pairs ten cores with 16GB of memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD, behind a taller 16:10 WUXGA display that fits more of a document on screen than the 1080p panels it replaces. The i7-1255U is a 15-watt processor, which is the class of chip that makes a 13-inch laptop viable in the first place. What changed in the 12th generation is the core layout: two performance cores handle whatever you are actively doing, while eight efficiency cores absorb the Teams client, the antivirus scan and the thirty browser tabs you forgot about. In practice that means the machine stays responsive under exactly the load that used to make a dual-core ultraportable stutter.
With 16GB of memory, a working day of Office, a browser full of tabs, a video call and a couple of remote-desktop sessions coexist without the system paging to disk. The 512GB NVMe SSD reads and writes several times faster than the SATA drives still common in this price bracket, which shows up most in the places you notice it: cold boot, waking from sleep, opening a large PDF or PowerPoint deck.
The 13.3-inch WUXGA panel is the quiet upgrade. At 1920×1200 with a 300-nit IPS surface and an anti-glare finish, it is comfortable in a bright office or next to a window, and the 16:10 shape means less scrolling through long documents. Intel Iris Xe graphics drive the internal display plus external monitors over HDMI 2.0 and USB-C, which covers a normal two-screen desk setup without a dock.

Does this ThinkPad have a touchscreen?
No. This build has the non-touch anti-glare WUXGA panel. The L13 Gen 3 was sold with both touch and non-touch screens, and we confirm which one is fitted against Lenovo's factory build record for each machine.
Can I add more memory?
No. The 16GB DDR4-3200 is soldered to the board on this machine type, so 16GB is what it has for life. It is ample for the work this laptop is built for, but worth knowing before you buy.
Does it have mobile broadband or a SIM slot?
No. This machine type is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth only. There is no WWAN module and no SIM tray.
How do I connect to a wired network?
Through a USB-C or USB adapter, or a dock. Like most 13-inch ultraportables, this chassis has no built-in RJ45 Ethernet port.
Is Windows included and activated?
Yes. Windows 11 Pro is installed and licensed against the machine's own digital entitlement, so it activates automatically on first connection.
