This is a machine bought for sustained load rather than light office work. The i7-10750H is a 45W six-core part, so it holds high clock speeds through long tasks instead of boosting briefly and throttling — the difference shows up in video exports, large photo batch operations, code compiles and anything else that runs the CPU flat out for minutes at a time.
The GTX 1650 Ti handles the GPU side. In Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve it accelerates timeline playback and export encoding; in Photoshop and Lightroom it speeds up filters and previews. For gaming it comfortably manages modern titles at 1080p on medium to high settings, and older or less demanding games at the display's full resolution. Applications that do not need the GPU fall back to the integrated Intel graphics, which is what preserves battery life.
Day to day, the 16:10 display is the feature people notice. The extra vertical space is worth roughly an additional toolbar and several lines of text compared to a 16:9 panel, which adds up across a working day in a code editor, a video timeline or a long document. The quad-speaker array is genuinely good for a laptop, and the 86Wh battery means light work away from a charger is realistic despite the powerful internals.

Is this a touchscreen?
No. This unit has the anti-glare non-touch FHD+ panel. The XPS 15 9500 was also sold with a UHD+ touch display, so it is worth being clear — this is the matte, non-touch version, which many people prefer for glare and battery life.
Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?
Yes to both. The XPS 15 9500 has two accessible SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB, and two M.2 SSD slots — so you can add a second drive without removing the existing one. The base panel is removed with Torx screws.
What ports does it have — is there HDMI?
There is no built-in HDMI or USB-A. You get two Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB-C 3.1, a full-size SD card reader and a headphone jack. Dell shipped these with a USB-C to USB-A/HDMI adapter, and any USB-C hub or dock will add legacy ports.
Will it run video editing software properly?
Yes. The six-core i7 with a dedicated GTX 1650 Ti is a capable Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and After Effects machine for 1080p and most 4K work. For heavy 4K multicam or long-form colour grading you would want more than 16GB of RAM — which this machine supports up to 64GB.
How many external monitors will it drive?
Two 4K displays at 60Hz over the Thunderbolt 3 ports, alongside the built-in screen. A single Thunderbolt dock will run a full desk setup from one cable.
Does it come with a charger?
Yes, a 130W USB-C adapter is included. The higher wattage matters on this model — a standard 65W charger will run it but will not keep up under sustained CPU and GPU load.
