Performance In Use

Memory is the reason to buy this machine. At 128GB, the R620 has roughly four times the RAM of a typical ex-lease server of its generation, and for virtualisation that is almost always the binding constraint before core count is. Sixteen cores and 128GB is a genuinely useful VM host, and it fits in a single rack unit.

The Ivy Bridge-EP generation is older but remains widely deployed and well supported by mainstream hypervisors and Linux distributions. It is a sensible choice for lab environments, secondary or DR hosts, and workloads where raw capacity per dollar matters more than the latest instruction sets or power efficiency.

Because it ships without drives, you are free to fit whatever storage suits — SAS for throughput, SATA SSD for cost, or a mix. Do factor drive caddies into your planning: the R620 requires Dell 2.5in hot-plug carriers, which are not included unless specified.

Does this include hard drives?

No. This server is supplied diskless so you can specify your own storage. Drive carriers are not included unless separately agreed — please ask before ordering.

Does it include an operating system?

No operating system or hypervisor licence is supplied. The server is tested to POST and hardware diagnostics, ready for your own install.

Is 128GB the maximum memory?

No — the R620 platform supports considerably more. 128GB is the configuration as supplied, which is already generous for this generation.

Are rails included?

Rails are not guaranteed with this unit. Please contact us before ordering if you require rails and we will confirm availability.

Is this covered by warranty?

Yes — a full 12-month Reboot IT warranty is included, handled from our Melbourne workshop.

All-in-one Solution for Home Office

I was looking for an in-expensive all-in-one solution for my home office to replace my existing desktop and monitor. I found this EliteOne 800 on reboot IT for under $200. Fair tech for price

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
