Dell Latitude 7490 — Built-In 4G LTE Business Ultrabook
A 14" business ultrabook with an integrated 4G LTE mobile broadband modem — insert a SIM and it is online anywhere there is mobile coverage, with no tethering and no dependence on public Wi-Fi. Quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U vPro, 16GB DDR4 and a 256GB NVMe SSD, on Windows 11 Pro, backed by a 12-month warranty from Reboot IT.
Key benefits
-
Integrated 4G LTE (WWAN): a factory-fitted mobile broadband modem with its own SIM slot — connect on the road without hunting for Wi-Fi or draining a phone battery on hotspot duty.
-
Intel Core i7-8650U vPro: quad-core, eight threads, 1.9GHz base and up to 4.2GHz turbo — the top processor offered in this chassis.
-
16GB DDR4 memory: comfortable headroom for 30+ browser tabs alongside Office, Teams and a remote desktop session.
-
256GB NVMe SSD: an NVMe drive rather than SATA — several times the sequential throughput, so boot and file operations feel instant.
-
14" Full HD display in a compact chassis: a 1920x1080 panel with slim bezels, so the machine carries smaller than its screen size suggests.
-
Windows 11 Pro: BitLocker, domain join and Remote Desktop host — the edition corporate IT expects, already licensed.
Performance in use
The 4G LTE modem is what separates this machine from most 7490s on the market. Very few were specified with the WWAN option, and it changes how the laptop is used day to day: a SIM in the tray means the machine is connected the moment the lid opens — in a taxi, on a client site, in a regional office with unreliable guest Wi-Fi, or anywhere corporate policy forbids joining an unknown network. For field staff, auditors, real-estate and construction supervisors, and anyone who works between sites, it removes the single most common cause of lost working time.
Behind that, the i7-8650U is the fastest processor Dell offered in the 7490. Four cores and eight threads at up to 4.2GHz handle the workloads business laptops actually see: large spreadsheets with live formulas, a 40-tab research session, Teams video while screen-sharing, and a couple of virtual machines for testing. Paired with 16GB of DDR4 there is no need to close one application to open another, and the NVMe SSD keeps cold boot and large file copies quick rather than merely tolerable.
The 14" Full HD panel sits in a compact chassis with slim bezels, so the 7490 travels like a smaller machine while giving a full 1920x1080 workspace — enough for two documents side by side without scaling everything down. vPro adds hardware-level remote management, which matters if this is going into a fleet your IT team has to support remotely rather than in person.

Frequently asked questions
Does the 4G LTE work in Australia, and is a SIM included?
The integrated WWAN modem works on Australian 4G networks. A SIM is not included — add a data SIM from your carrier and insert it in the SIM tray.
Do I have to use the LTE, or can I just use Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work exactly as on any other laptop. The LTE modem sits alongside them and is only active if you fit a SIM, so there is no ongoing cost unless you choose to use it.
Is Windows 11 Pro genuine and already activated?
Yes. Windows 11 Pro is installed and licensed, ready to use from first boot. Pro includes BitLocker encryption, domain join and Remote Desktop host.
Can the memory or storage be upgraded later?
The 7490 uses standard DDR4 SODIMM memory and an M.2 NVMe drive, both of which can be upgraded by a technician. Doing so does not affect your warranty with us.
Does it have a touchscreen?
No. This unit has a standard non-touch 14" Full HD panel.
What is included in the box?
The laptop and a compatible power adapter. Original packaging and manuals are not included.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are dispatched from our Melbourne warehouse on business days, with free standard AU shipping included. Metropolitan deliveries typically arrive within 2–5 business days.
