What VoIP system is required?

The 7971G runs Cisco's SCCP (Skinny) protocol and is designed for Cisco Unified Communications Manager. SIP firmware is also available. A VoIP PBX or hosted UCaaS platform supporting Cisco endpoints is required — this is not a standalone phone.

Does the power adapter come included?

No adapter is included — the 7971G powers via PoE 802.3af from a compatible PoE network switch. Note: it does NOT support Cisco Prestandard PoE. If your switch lacks PoE, a Cisco CP-PWR-CUBE-3= adapter (sold separately) is required.

Does the PC pass-through run at Gigabit speed?

Yes — the 7971G-GE has a full Gigabit Ethernet switch integrated, making it suitable for workstations that need Gigabit throughput rather than the 10/100 limitation of the standard 7971G or 7962G.
