No — HiveOS cooperative routing enables APs to self-organise and share configuration with each other, eliminating any need for a dedicated hardware controller. You can optionally manage them via HiveManager NG or ExtremeCloud IQ cloud platform for centralised visibility.

What PoE switch do I need?

Any 802.3af or 802.3at compliant PoE switch will power the AP370. 802.3af provides up to 15.4W and 802.3at (PoE+) provides up to 30W. If your switch does not support PoE, you can use an optional 12V DC power adapter instead.

Is the AP370 compatible with ExtremeCloud IQ?

Yes — Aerohive was acquired by Extreme Networks in 2019. AP370 units can be added to ExtremeCloud IQ (the successor to HiveManager NG). Note that some advanced IQ Engine features are designed for current-generation APs — check Extreme Networks documentation for specific feature compatibility.

How many clients can each AP370 handle?
