10Gtek ASF-GE-T 1000BASE-T SFP Copper RJ45 Transceiver

The 10Gtek ASF-GE-T turns an SFP port into a Gigabit copper RJ45 port. It is a 1000BASE-T SFP module compliant with IEEE 802.3ab, running Gigabit Ethernet over standard Cat5e cable for up to 100 metres. It is inspected by our team in Melbourne before it is listed and is backed by a 12-month warranty from Reboot IT.

  • SFP to RJ45. Connect ordinary copper network cable to a switch's SFP port.
  • Gigabit Ethernet. 1000BASE-T, IEEE 802.3ab.
  • 100 metres on Cat5e. The full standard copper run length.
  • No fibre needed. Use the Cat5e or Cat6 patch leads you already have.
  • Hot-pluggable. Insert or remove it from a live SFP port.

Performance in use

Many switches, routers and firewalls have SFP ports for uplinks, but not every link needs fibre. The ASF-GE-T lets one of those ports take a normal RJ45 copper cable instead, so you can connect a server, another switch or a firewall over Cat5e for up to 100 metres at Gigabit speed. It is a fixed 1000Mb/s module: 10Gtek makes a separate module, the ASF-GE2-T, for devices that need to auto-negotiate down to 100Mb/s.

No. The ASF-GE-T is fixed at 1000Mb/s. 10Gtek's ASF-GE2-T is the model for 100/1000Mb/s auto-negotiation.

Which switches is it coded for?

10Gtek codes its modules for particular switch brands. Tell us your switch model before ordering and we will confirm whether this module will be accepted.
