Performance in Use

The PN556W is built for people who already carry a Dell 2-in-1 and want to use it like a notepad. In meetings you can flip to tablet mode and take handwritten notes; at your desk you can mark up a PDF or sign a document without printing it. The pen tip is detected from 5 mm to 10 mm above the screen, so the cursor follows the pen before it touches the glass, which makes precise selection much easier than using a finger.

The top button is the pen's shortcut key. It connects over Bluetooth Smart Low Energy 4.0 and launches an application with a single press, while two presses in quick succession capture a screenshot, handy for grabbing a chart or a slide to annotate. The two barrel buttons on the shaft can be set to right-click, erase or another action, and the Dell Active Pen Control Panel lets you change both the button functions and the pressure response.
