Performance In Use

The 2960-X sits at the access layer, where endpoints plug in. With PoE+ across all 48 ports and a 740W budget, it powers IP handsets, wireless access points and most fixed and PTZ cameras directly — removing separate injectors and giving you one place to power-cycle a device remotely.

The four SFP slots take fibre transceivers for links that exceed the 100-metre copper limit, so the uplink to the core or to another building does not consume any of the 48 copper ports. LAN Base management adds VLAN segmentation, QoS prioritisation for voice traffic, and port security — configured through the web interface or the Cisco CLI.

Because the FlexStack-Plus module is included, expansion does not mean added complexity: additional 2960-X switches join the stack and are administered as a single device with one IP address and one configuration file.
