Frequently asked questions

What does the warranty cover?

Our warranty covers all hardware faults, but please note it doesn’t cover accidental damage or software issues. However, we’re here to help with technical support for those matters!

What is a refurbished device?

A refurbished device is a pre-owned item that has been restored to meet high-quality standards. At Reboot IT, we adhere to strict quality guidelines, ensuring that our refurbished products are not the same as used or secondhand items. We meticulously clean, test, and assess each device, replacing worn parts with high-quality components.

Unlike used items, which lack guarantees and rely solely on the seller's word regarding condition, refurbished devices come with assurance of quality and reliability.

Description

WatchGuard AP325 — 802.11ac Wave 2 Dual-Band Access Point

The WatchGuard AP325 is an enterprise dual-radio 802.11ac Wave 2 access point with 3×3:3 MIMO, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and 802.3at PoE+ power. Designed for ceiling or wall deployment in offices, retail sites, and education campuses, it delivers concurrent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz coverage with centralised cloud management. Backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.

⚠ Management licence required. The AP325 must be adopted by WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud or a WatchGuard Gateway Wireless Controller. It does not operate as a standalone access point.

Key Benefits

  • 802.11ac Wave 2: Wave 2 radio with MU-MIMO support handles multiple client devices concurrently rather than sequentially — a measurable difference in dense environments like meeting rooms and classrooms.
  • 3×3:3 MIMO dual radio: Three spatial streams on both bands deliver up to 1.3 Gbps on 5 GHz and 450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with both radios serving clients simultaneously.
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet: Two GbE ports allow link aggregation or a wired passthrough connection, avoiding the uplink bottleneck that limits single-port APs.
  • 802.3at PoE+ powered: Draws power and data over one Ethernet run, so ceiling and high-wall mounting needs no local power outlet or separate adapter.
  • Integrated omnidirectional antennas: Internal antennas keep the enclosure flush and vandal-resistant for public-facing installations where external aerials are impractical.
  • Cloud-managed configuration: WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud provides centralised SSID, security policy, and firmware management across every AP on a site from one console.

Performance in Use

The AP325 sits in the mid-to-upper tier of WatchGuard's access point range and is built for environments with sustained client density rather than light home use. Wave 2 MU-MIMO lets the radio transmit to several compatible clients at once, which materially improves throughput where twenty or more devices share a single AP — the typical meeting room, classroom, or open-plan floor.

Three spatial streams on the 5 GHz radio give headroom for video conferencing and large file transfers, while the 2.4 GHz radio remains available for older client devices and IoT equipment that never moved to 5 GHz. Running both bands concurrently means legacy devices do not drag down modern ones.

Dual Gigabit uplinks matter more than they first appear. A Wave 2 AP can saturate a single 1 Gbps uplink under load, so the second port provides either aggregation headroom or a convenient wired drop for a desk or camera at the same location. PoE+ power over the same cabling keeps the install to one run per AP.

Is It Right for You?

✓ Best For:
• Offices and campuses with existing WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud subscriptions
• High-density areas — meeting rooms, classrooms, open-plan floors
• Sites with 802.3at PoE+ switching already installed
• Deployments needing centralised multi-site Wi-Fi policy
• Ceiling installs where a flush, antenna-free enclosure is preferred
✗ Not For:
• Home or small-office use without a WatchGuard subscription
• Standalone access point deployment — a controller or cloud licence is mandatory
• Sites with only 802.3af PoE (insufficient power budget)
• Wi-Fi 6 / 802.11ax client environments needing the latest standard
• Outdoor or weather-exposed mounting

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AP325 work without a WatchGuard subscription?

No. The AP325 requires adoption by WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud or a WatchGuard Gateway Wireless Controller. It has no standalone mode, so factor the licence into your deployment plan before purchasing.

Is a power adapter included?

No power adapter is supplied. The AP325 is powered by 802.3at PoE+ from a compatible switch or injector, which is the standard deployment method for this unit.

Will 802.3af PoE power this access point?

No. The AP325 requires 802.3at PoE+. An 802.3af port does not provide sufficient power budget and the unit will either fail to boot or run with radios disabled.

Can it be mounted on a ceiling tile?

Yes. The AP325 is designed for ceiling or wall mounting. Check that the original mounting bracket is included in your order, as brackets are not always supplied with refurbished units.

Does it support Wi-Fi 6?

No. The AP325 is an 802.11ac Wave 2 access point. Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) clients will connect and work normally, but at 802.11ac speeds.

What are the shipping options?

Free standard shipping across Australia.
