Dell Latitude E6430 — 14" Business Laptop with DVD Drive, No OS Installed
A durable 14-inch business-class Latitude built for tough working environments: an Intel Core i5-3340M processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 320GB hard drive and a DVD burner. It ships with no operating system installed, leaving you free to load Windows or a Linux distribution of your choice. Professionally tested and graded by Reboot IT and backed by a 3-month warranty.
Key benefits
-
Built to take a knock. The E-series Latitude chassis uses a magnesium-alloy frame with reinforced corners and a spill-resistant keyboard — engineered for site work, workshops and classrooms rather than a quiet desk.
-
Your operating system, your choice. No OS is installed and no Windows licence is included, so there is no bundled software to strip out. Ideal for Linux users, IT departments imaging to their own standard build, or anyone with a spare licence.
-
Genuinely upgradeable. Two accessible SODIMM slots take up to 16GB of DDR3, and the 2.5-inch drive bay accepts any standard SATA SSD — the single biggest speed improvement you can make to this machine.
-
An optical drive that still earns its place. The built-in DVD burner reads and writes discs, which matters for archived media, driver discs and installation media that newer thin laptops simply cannot handle.
-
Ports without dongles. USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD card reader are all on the chassis, so older projectors, wired networks and peripherals connect directly.
-
A sensible second machine. Low outlay for a workshop bench, a spare loan unit, a reception terminal or a first laptop for a student — kept in service rather than sent to landfill.
Performance in use
The Core i5-3340M is a dual-core processor with Hyper-Threading that runs at 2.7GHz and lifts to 3.4GHz under load. In practice this is a machine for the everyday jobs that make up most of a working day: email, web-based systems, word processing, spreadsheets, remote desktop sessions and video playback. With 4GB of memory it is comfortable with a browser and a couple of applications open at once.
The most honest thing to say about the storage is that the 320GB mechanical hard drive is the part of this machine you will notice most. It holds plenty of documents and media, but it is the limiting factor on boot and application-launch times. Fitting a SATA SSD is straightforward, inexpensive, and transforms how the machine feels — worth planning for if you intend to use it daily rather than occasionally.
Graphics are handled by integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, which drives the built-in 1366 x 768 anti-glare panel plus an external display over HDMI or VGA. It is well suited to office work, dual-screen productivity and standard video, and it is not intended for gaming, 3D rendering or video editing.

Frequently asked questions
Does it come with Windows?
No. This machine ships with no operating system installed and no Windows licence is included. You will need to supply and install your own operating system before use — Windows 10, or a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu or Mint, both of which run well on this hardware.
Can it run Windows 11?
No. Windows 11 requires an 8th-generation Intel processor or newer, and this machine has a 3rd-generation Core i5. Windows 10 or Linux are the appropriate choices here.
Can I fit an SSD and more memory?
Yes, and we would recommend both. The 2.5-inch drive bay takes any standard SATA SSD, and the two SODIMM slots accept up to 16GB of DDR3 in total. Both are reachable through service panels on the underside without specialist tools.
Does the DVD drive work?
Yes. The built-in DVD±RW drive is tested as part of our refurbishment process and both reads and writes discs.
Can I connect it to a monitor or projector?
Yes. There is a full-size HDMI port and a VGA port on the chassis, so both current monitors and older projectors connect directly without an adapter.
How is it shipped?
Free standard AU shipping is included. Orders are packed in protective packaging and dispatched from our Melbourne warehouse with tracking supplied.
What does the warranty cover?
A 3-month warranty covering hardware faults under normal use, with batteries covered for 30 days as consumable items. Support is handled locally by our own technicians in Melbourne.
