The 5290 exists for people who put a laptop in a bag every day. At 12.5 inches it is smaller than almost anything else in the business range, and yet it keeps full-size HDMI, USB-A and Ethernet ports rather than pushing you towards a dock.
The i5-8350U is a quad-core, eight-thread processor with vPro support. Paired with 8GB of memory and an SSD, it handles the daily load comfortably — email, Office, a browser session and video calls. It is a machine for getting work done rather than for heavy multitasking.
The trade-off for the size is the screen: 12.5 inches at HD resolution is compact, and users who work across several windows at once will prefer a larger, higher-resolution panel. For travel, site work and hot-desking it is exactly the right shape.

This is the 12.5-inch Latitude 5290 clamshell. Dell also made a 12.3-inch 5290 2-in-1 detachable, which is a different machine — this is not that model.

No. This unit has a non-touch HD display.
Can the memory be upgraded?
The Latitude 5290 uses socketed memory, so it is serviceable. Contact us before purchase if you need a different configuration.
