The Netgear ProSAFE GS108T is an 8-port Gigabit smart managed switch with a web browser management interface, supporting VLAN, QoS, IGMP snooping, port mirroring, and port-based rate limiting. Its 16 Gbps non-blocking switching fabric and fanless design make it an ideal choice for SMB environments needing managed network features without CLI complexity. This unit ships with a 12-month Reboot IT warranty and is professionally tested at our Melbourne facility.

The GS108T occupies the gap between dumb unmanaged switches and full CLI-managed enterprise switches. Its ProSAFE Smart browser interface exposes VLAN configuration, QoS rules, port mirroring, rate limiting, and status monitoring through a clean web GUI — no command-line knowledge required. For SMB networks serving 10–50 users, this is typically all the switch management needed: port-based VLANs to separate guest WiFi from staff traffic, 802.1p QoS to protect VoIP quality, and IGMP snooping to ensure IP camera multicast streams reach only the NVR rather than flooding every port.

Port-based rate limiting caps individual port bandwidth, useful for guest or IoT ports where unrestricted throughput would waste capacity or create security risks. The built-in cable diagnostics function identifies wiring faults in installed cabling without specialist test equipment — a time-saver when troubleshooting a port that fails to link. Does the GS108T support PoE?

No. The GS108T does not provide Power over Ethernet on any port. If you need to power WiFi APs, IP phones, or cameras via the switch, you will need a PoE-capable switch such as the Netgear GS108PE or GS310TP.

Is this a managed or unmanaged switch?

The GS108T is a "smart managed" switch — it provides a web browser GUI for VLAN, QoS, port mirroring, and monitoring, but does not offer a full CLI. For essential managed features without command-line complexity, it is an excellent fit.

How many VLANs does it support?

Up to 64 static 802.1Q VLANs. Port-based and tagged/untagged VLAN configurations are supported via the web interface, covering the needs of most SMB environments.

Does it support link aggregation?

No. The GS108T does not support LACP (802.3ad) link aggregation. If bonded uplinks are required, consider the Netgear GS110TP or a full managed switch.

Fair tech for price

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.

Works excellently as advertised.

The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
