Performance in use

The LTE modem is what sets this machine apart from an ordinary ProBook. For field staff, site supervisors, real-estate agents, community and health workers — anyone who works where the office Wi-Fi does not reach — a laptop that carries its own connection removes a daily friction point. It also sidesteps the security exposure of public hotspots, which matters if you handle client data.

On performance, the i7-1165G7 with 16GB of RAM is a comfortable machine rather than a compromise. Large spreadsheets, thirty-plus browser tabs, Teams running alongside a remote desktop session and a couple of Office documents is unremarkable for it, and the 512GB NVMe SSD means large file operations and application launches happen without waiting. Iris Xe graphics handle video playback, light photo work and external 4K output without a discrete GPU.

The 15.6" chassis is a deliberate trade. At roughly 1.74kg it is heavier than a 14" ultrabook, but you gain a full numeric keypad, a larger screen for side-by-side work and a built-in Ethernet port. For anyone who spends their day in spreadsheets or accounting software, that keypad alone is usually the deciding factor.

Frequently asked questions

Is a SIM card or data plan included with the 4G LTE?

No. The laptop has the LTE modem built in, but you supply your own data SIM and plan from any Australian carrier. Insert the SIM in the tray, and Windows treats it like any other network connection.

Can I still use Wi-Fi and Ethernet?

Yes. LTE is an addition, not a replacement. The machine has Intel Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth and a full-size Gigabit Ethernet port, and Windows will prefer whichever connection is available.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

Yes. The ProBook 650 G8 uses standard DDR4 SODIMM memory in accessible slots, and storage is a standard M.2 NVMe SSD. Doing the work yourself may affect the warranty on the component involved, so talk to us first — we can often supply the machine with more memory or a larger drive already fitted.

Does it have Thunderbolt?

No. The ProBook 650 G8 has a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with Power Delivery and DisplayPort output — enough to charge and drive an external monitor over one cable — but it is not a Thunderbolt port. If you need Thunderbolt, look at the EliteBook range.

What condition will the battery be in?

Grade A units carry a battery at 70% or more of original capacity; Grade B units are between 50% and 70%. Every battery is tested before dispatch and covered by a 30-day warranty.

What is included in the box?

The laptop and a compatible power adapter. Original packaging, manuals, SIM cards and accessories such as docks or carry cases are not included unless listed separately.
