This is a bare system board harvested from a working EliteBook x360 830 G6. It is the right repair part when the board itself has failed — a unit that no longer powers on, liquid damage that reached the board, or a machine with an intact touch display, hinge and chassis that is worth far more repaired than parted out. The x360 830 G6 carries an expensive convertible display assembly, which is exactly why a board-level repair usually makes financial sense on this model.
The i5-8265U remains a capable business processor. Four cores and eight threads handle Office, heavy browser use, Teams and Zoom calls and light photo work comfortably, and Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the internal panel plus external displays over USB-C or HDMI.
One important note on this platform: memory is soldered to the board and is not user-upgradeable. Whatever capacity the board carries is what it will always have, so match the configuration you need before ordering. Storage and the wireless card remain modular. Installation is a technician-level job — transferring the board, reconnecting the display, digitiser, battery, antennas, speakers and I/O, and reapplying thermal paste. How do I confirm this is the right board?
Check the white label on your existing board for the HP spare part number. If it reads L64982-601 or L64982-001, this is a direct replacement. Boards ending L64981, L64979, L64980 or L65059 carry different processors.
Will it fit the standard EliteBook 830 G6?
No. The non-convertible EliteBook 830 G6 clamshell uses a different board (L60635 series on the 6050A3022401 design). This board is specific to the x360 convertible.
Can I upgrade the RAM?
No. The EliteBook x360 830 G6 uses memory soldered directly to the board with no SODIMM slots. The capacity the board carries is fixed for the life of the machine.
Can I upgrade the CPU?
No — the i5-8265U is permanently soldered. Storage and the Wi-Fi card are the user-replaceable parts.
