HP EliteBook 840 G5 — 14" Full HD Business Ultrabook
A professionally refurbished 14-inch business notebook built on Intel’s 8th-generation quad-core platform, running Windows 11 Pro and covered by a 3-month Reboot IT warranty. Every unit is tested, cleaned and graded in our Melbourne workshop before it ships.
Key benefits
-
Quad-core 8th-generation processing — the Intel Core i5-8350U runs four cores and eight threads at 1.7 GHz base, with Turbo Boost lifting single-thread work well above that.
-
Solid-state storage throughout — a 256GB M.2 SATA SSD means near-instant boot, fast application launches and no mechanical drive to fail.
-
Full HD anti-glare panel — 14" at 1920 × 1080, so two documents sit side by side legibly and overhead office lighting doesn’t wash the screen out.
-
Windows 11 Pro, activated — domain join, BitLocker and Group Policy are all available out of the box; no separate licence to buy.
-
Genuine ultrabook portability — the magnesium-and-aluminium EliteBook chassis is roughly 18 mm thick and about 1.5 kg, so it travels without a specialist bag.
-
A full set of ports, no dongle required — Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C, two full-size USB 3.1 Type-A, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet are all on the chassis.
Performance in use
This is a machine for the ordinary working day rather than a benchmark chart. With four cores behind it, a thirty-tab browser session alongside Outlook, Teams and a couple of Office documents stays responsive — the usual cause of a slow business laptop is a mechanical hard drive and two cores, and this has neither.
The 8GB of DDR4 is the honest constraint. It is comfortable for browsing, email, Office, accounting packages and line-of-business web apps, which is what most desks actually run. If you routinely keep fifty tabs open beside a large spreadsheet and a virtual machine, you will feel it — the 840 G5 takes up to 32GB across its two SODIMM slots, so that ceiling can be lifted later without replacing the laptop.
Graphics are Intel UHD 620, integrated. That drives the built-in Full HD panel plus an external monitor over HDMI or Thunderbolt without complaint, and handles video calls, 1080p playback and light photo work. It is not a gaming or 3D-rendering part and is not sold as one.

Cosmetic condition only — every grade is functionally tested to the same standard. Batteries are consumable items and carry a 30-day warranty.
Frequently asked questions
Is Windows included and activated?
Yes. Windows 11 Pro is installed and activated against the machine’s digital licence. There is nothing further to buy or enter.
Can the memory or storage be upgraded?
Yes. The 840 G5 has two SODIMM slots and accepts up to 32GB of DDR4. The M.2 SSD can also be replaced with a larger drive. Both are accessible through the base panel.
Does it have 4G or LTE mobile broadband?
No. This unit is Wi-Fi only — no WWAN module is fitted. The 840 G5 was offered with an optional modem, but this particular machine does not have one.
What condition will the battery be in?
Grade A units hold at least 70% of original battery capacity and Grade B units 50–70%. Batteries are consumables, so they carry a 30-day warranty rather than the full term.
Is a charger supplied?
Yes — a compatible power adapter and lead are included. Bags, docking stations and other accessories are not included unless the listing says so.
What does shipping cost?
Free standard shipping is included anywhere in Australia. Local pickup from our Melbourne premises can also be arranged.
Has the previous owner’s data been removed?
Yes. Every drive is securely wiped to a recognised data-destruction standard before the operating system is reinstalled.
