Part of the Cisco Mobility Express / Smart Business Communications System, it pairs with the Cisco 526 Wireless Express Mobility Controller for centralised management. Deployed with a Cisco 526 controller, multiple 521 access points can be managed as a single wireless network, with the controller handling channel assignment, security policy, and roaming between APs so staff stay connected as they move around the premises.

As an 802.11b/g access point, the 521 operates in the 2.4 GHz band and is well suited to general office use — email, web, line-of-business applications, and barcode scanners or handheld terminals that connect over 2.4 GHz WiFi. Power over Ethernet simplifies installation: mount the unit on a wall or ceiling, run one Ethernet cable back to a PoE switch or injector, and the access point powers up with no local outlet required.

Is a power adapter included?

No. The unit is powered via 802.3af Power over Ethernet from a PoE switch or injector. A PoE injector can be purchased separately if your switch does not supply PoE.

The Aironet 521 is an 802.11b/g access point operating on the 2.4 GHz band, with a maximum data rate of 54 Mbps. It is a legacy platform and does not support 802.11n/ac or 5 GHz.

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.
