A small-form-factor business desktop with a quad-core Intel Core i5-4590, 8 GB of RAM, a 500 GB hard drive and a DVD writer. Supplied with no operating system installed, and covered by a 3-month Reboot IT warranty.

Performance In Use

The i5-4590 is a Haswell-generation quad-core, and within its era it was the mainstream business processor. For document work, spreadsheets, email, web browsing and line-of-business applications it remains adequate, and the four physical cores mean it does not stall the way a dual-core machine of the same age does when several things run at once.

The honest limitation is the storage. This unit ships with a 500 GB mechanical hard drive, and on a machine of this generation that drive is the single largest brake on how the system feels. Fitting a SATA SSD in its place is an inexpensive change that transforms boot and application-launch times far more than any processor upgrade would. The 8 GB of RAM fitted is reasonable for general use and can be increased if needed.

Where this machine makes most sense is in a defined role rather than as a general daily driver. A workshop or test bench PC, a Linux desktop, a print or scan station, a signage or kiosk machine, a spare for a back office — jobs where a quad-core with 8 GB is genuinely sufficient and the low purchase cost is the point. Buyers wanting a current Windows 11 machine should look at a newer generation, since this processor does not meet the Windows 11 requirement.

Grading is cosmetic. Every unit is functionally tested to the same standard regardless of grade. This product has no internal battery, so battery grading does not apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there no operating system installed?

This machine is supplied deliberately without an OS. Its processor generation does not meet the Windows 11 hardware requirement, so rather than ship an unsupported install we leave it clear for you to install Linux, an older licensed Windows build, or your own corporate image.

Can it run Windows 11?

Not officially. The Core i5-4590 is a 4th-generation Intel processor and falls outside Microsoft supported CPU list for Windows 11. If Windows 11 is a requirement, choose a machine with an 8th-generation processor or newer.

Will it take an SSD?

Yes, and it is the upgrade we would recommend first. The drive bay and SATA connection accept a standard 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SSD, and swapping out the 500 GB hard drive makes a much larger difference to responsiveness than anything else you can change.

Can I add more memory?

Yes. The board uses standard DDR3 DIMM modules and has spare slots in most configurations, so increasing the 8 GB fitted here is inexpensive.

Does it include a monitor, keyboard or mouse?

No. The listing covers the desktop unit and its power cable. Peripherals are sold separately.

Has the previous data been wiped?

Yes. Every machine is data-wiped to industry standard before it is tested and graded in our Melbourne workshop.

What warranty applies to this machine?
