The i7-7600U is a dual-core, four-thread processor with turbo to 3.9GHz and vPro support — the strongest chip Dell put in the 7280. In a 12.5-inch chassis that gives noticeably more headroom than the i5 versions, and it handles Microsoft 365, browsing, email and video calls comfortably.
The 256GB SSD and 8GB of memory make it quick where it counts: instant boot and wake, immediate application launch. It is not built for heavy parallel workloads, but for focused office work in a machine you carry all day, it holds up well.
Its real appeal is the size. At 12.5 inches and roughly 1.2kg, with a Full HD screen rather than the usual HD panel, it suits commuters, students and anyone working from cafes, client sites or hot desks. As Windows 10 has reached end of support, it is best suited to internally-managed or single-purpose roles rather than general internet-facing use.

Is the battery replaced?
Batteries are tested, not automatically replaced. Grade A units hold 70% or more of original design capacity and Grade B units 50–70%. Every battery carries a 30-day warranty.
How small is it really?
The 12.5-inch chassis is around 1.2kg — small enough to work comfortably on a train tray table or a cafe table, which a 14 or 15-inch machine is not.
Why Windows 10 rather than Windows 11?
The Intel Core i7-7600U is not on Microsoft's supported processor list for Windows 11, so Windows 10 Pro is the correct and stable choice for this hardware. Microsoft security updates for Windows 10 have now ended, so this suits offline, single-purpose or internally-managed roles rather than general internet-facing use.
Is the screen Full HD?
Yes — 1920 x 1080 in a 12.5-inch panel, which is unusually sharp for this size and much better than the HD panels commonly fitted to small business laptops.
Can I upgrade the memory or storage?
Yes — the 7280 has an accessible memory slot and M.2 drive bay under the base panel.
Is the operating system genuine?
Yes. Windows 10 Pro is installed and activated against the licence embedded in the unit.
