The Latitude 5400 is Dell's mainstream business laptop, and this configuration is a strong one. The i5-8265U is an 8th Generation quad-core with Hyper-Threading — four cores and eight threads where earlier machines in this class offered two and four. That doubling is felt directly in everyday multitasking: a browser with many tabs, a video call and Office applications all running together stay responsive rather than competing for the processor.
The touchscreen is what sets this unit apart from most business laptops at this price. Beyond the convenience of scrolling and tapping, it opens up practical uses that a non-touch machine cannot serve — form completion in the field, customer sign-on-glass, kiosk or point-of-sale duty, and any workflow where reaching for the screen is quicker than the trackpad.
Its other real advantage is longevity. This generation meets the requirements for Windows 11, so it arrives on a currently supported operating system rather than one approaching end of life — a meaningful distinction against the 4th to 7th Generation machines that make up much of the refurbished market. With Windows 11 Pro installed, domain join, BitLocker encryption and Remote Desktop host are all available, which matters for business deployment. Yes. The unit ships with Windows 11 Pro installed and activated, ready to use out of the box. There is no separate licence to purchase.
Does the touchscreen support a stylus?
The panel is a capacitive touchscreen supporting finger input and passive capacitive styli. It is not an active-pen digitiser, so pressure-sensitive drawing is not supported. For everyday touch use, form filling and signatures it works well.
Can the RAM or storage be upgraded?
The Latitude 5400 has an accessible M.2 slot for the SSD and SODIMM memory, so upgrades are generally possible. Configurations vary between production runs — if a particular upgrade is essential to you, contact us before ordering and we will check the actual unit.
What condition is the battery in?
Battery health is graded before dispatch: 70% or better of original capacity for Grade A, between 50% and 70% for Grade B. Batteries are consumable items and carry a 30-day warranty.
