The auto-sensing PoE circuit is a practical safety feature: if you plug in a non-PoE device by mistake, the switch recognises it and doesn't apply power, protecting your equipment. When a PoE device is disconnected, power is cut immediately — no residual voltage on the port.

As an unmanaged switch, the FS108P offers no VLAN, QoS, or port management — all traffic shares the same broadcast domain. No power supply is included with this unit. The FS108P uses a 12V DC external power adapter. The Netgear part number for the original PSU is PWR-10000S. Third-party compatible adapters with matching voltage and connector are also an option — verify specs before purchasing.

How many PoE devices can I connect?

Up to 4 PoE devices on ports 1–4. Total PoE power budget varies depending on the PSU used — ensure your power supply can deliver sufficient watts for your connected PoE devices.

Does it support Gigabit speeds?

No — the FS108P is a Fast Ethernet switch with maximum 100 Mbps per port. For Gigabit PoE, you'll need a different model such as the Netgear GS308P.

Can I use proprietary PoE devices (non-802.3af)?

The FS108P only powers devices compliant with IEEE 802.3af. Proprietary PoE or passive PoE devices are not powered — the smart sensing circuit protects non-standard devices from receiving power.
