What is a refurbished device?
A refurbished device is a pre-owned item that has been restored to meet high-quality standards. At Reboot IT, we adhere to strict quality guidelines, ensuring that our refurbished products are not the same as used or secondhand items. We meticulously clean, test, and assess each device, replacing worn parts with high-quality components.
Unlike used items, which lack guarantees and rely solely on the seller's word regarding condition, refurbished devices come with assurance of quality and reliability.
What payment options are available?
We offer a variety of payment options to make your shopping experience as convenient as possible! You can pay using all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, Afterpay, Zip Pay, and PayPal. If you prefer, we also accept bank deposits and even cash for in-store purchases!

A large-capacity tower server with two Intel Xeon 5130 processors, 24GB of memory and nine SAS hard drives totalling 7.6TB. A cost-effective platform for bulk storage, lab work and training environments. Covered by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.
Let us be straightforward about what this machine is. The PowerEdge 2900 is a 2006-generation platform, and the Xeon 5130 is a dual-core processor without modern virtualisation acceleration or power management. It is not a machine to build new production infrastructure on, and we would not recommend it as a primary business server.
What it is good at is bulk, cheap, local storage. Nine SAS drives totalling 7.6TB in a chassis with hardware RAID makes a perfectly serviceable file dump, backup landing zone, media archive or lab storage node — roles where capacity per dollar matters and raw speed does not. The tower form factor also means it does not need a rack or specialist cooling.
It also has genuine value as a teaching and training platform. Enterprise-grade RAID, hot-plug drives, redundant power and out-of-band management are all present, which makes it a useful machine to learn on or break without consequence. Buyers should budget for its power draw, however — this generation is not efficient by modern standards, and running it continuously costs real money.

| Grade | What To Expect |
|---|---|
| A – Excellent | Minimal cosmetic marks. Fully tested and functional. Chassis, bezel and fascia in very good order with only light handling marks visible on close inspection. |
| B – Good | Light to moderate cosmetic wear consistent with normal rack or office use — surface scuffs, minor scratches or rack-ear marks. Fully tested and functional. |
Cosmetic grading refers to appearance only. Every unit is functionally tested to the same standard regardless of grade.
Is this suitable as a main business server?
We would not recommend it. This is a 2006-generation platform best suited to bulk storage, lab and training use rather than production business workloads.
Are all nine drives included and working?
Yes. All nine SAS drives are fitted, tested and functional, totalling 7.6TB raw capacity. Drives are securely wiped before dispatch.
Does it include an operating system?
No operating system licence is supplied. Note that current Windows Server and many modern Linux distributions no longer support this hardware generation.
How much power does it use?
Considerably more than a modern equivalent. This generation predates current efficiency standards, so factor running costs into your decision if it will be powered continuously.
Does it need a rack?
No. The 5U chassis is designed to stand as a tower, though it can be racked if you have a suitable cabinet.
Is this covered by warranty?
Yes — a full 12-month Reboot IT warranty is included, handled from our Melbourne workshop.
Do you ship Australia wide?
Yes. Shipping costs apply based on size and destination — rates are calculated at checkout. Items of this weight and size ship as freight.
Can you supply a tax invoice?
Yes. A GST tax invoice is issued with every order, suitable for business accounting and asset registers.
Every unit we sell is covered by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty. If something fails within the warranty period we will repair or replace it — you deal directly with our Melbourne workshop, not an overseas call centre.
