Performance in Use

The BD-E8900A eliminates the need for separate Blu-ray player, PVR, and streaming device. Its 500GB HDD provides ample space for recorded TV content — typically 100+ hours of standard definition or 30+ hours of high definition recording depending on broadcast quality. The twin tuner (where supported) allows one channel to be recorded while watching another.

Blu-ray playback delivers full 1080p video with Samsung's proprietary upscaling for standard definition DVDs, and 3D Blu-ray support for 3D-capable TV setups. The Smart TV platform provides access to streaming services that were current at launch, though third-party app availability depends on Samsung's Smart TV platform version for this era device.

DLNA networking allows content recorded on the BD-E8900A to be accessed on other DLNA-compatible devices in the home — smart TVs, media players, and compatible smartphones. Built-in Wi-Fi means placement is flexible — no Ethernet cable run to the entertainment unit required.

Does it play 4K Blu-ray?

No. The BD-E8900A is a Full HD (1080p) Blu-ray player. It does not play 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. For 4K UHD Blu-ray, a newer player is required.

Does it include a remote control?

Remote control availability varies by unit. Please contact us if a remote is essential before ordering.

Can I still use the Smart TV apps?

Some Smart TV apps from the 2012 Samsung platform may no longer be active as services have discontinued support for older firmware. Blu-ray disc playback, DVD playback, HDD recording, and DLNA networking all function independently of Smart TV apps.

Is the HDD wiped?

Yes. The internal hard drive is formatted before dispatch — any previous recordings are cleared.

What is the warranty?

All Reboot IT products include a 12-month warranty. If a fault develops within 12 months, we repair or replace at no cost.

All-in-one Solution for Home Office

I was looking for an in-expensive all-in-one solution for my home office to replace my existing desktop and monitor. I found this EliteOne 800 on reboot IT for under $200. Fair tech for price

Fair tech for price, good specs for era, serves the purpose. The black keyboard is an interesting rubber like texture clearly by design to pad the screen and avoid the keyboard touching. Screen is great. Still looking for magic formula to enable computer use in the bright bright sunshine. Keyboard taps are loud for someone who likes silent touch. The perfect PC has to exist, like build a bear.

Works excellently as advertised.

The laptop was sold with a warning about worn keycaps. In fact they had been obviously vandalised (ex school laptops, perhaps?). The keyboard worked fine, and the rest of the laptop too. I'm using it as a file server, so I don't need the keyboard much. So very pleased, and also pleased with reboot-it's service - as always, excellent, and quick responses to any queries.
